Very interesting, quirky, charming museum in the manor where Rosa Bonheur lived and painted with the women of her life.
The guided tour is interesting and the guide was very available to answer questions. Some of the objects would benefit from greater explanations though.
I highly recommend the brunch in the glasshouse: served in unmatched antique crockery, each ingredient is fresh, tasty and seems highly local when possible (fresh cream, yoghurt, scones..) - with a special mention for the salmon gravlax and the delicious tarama. Take time to explore the garden and wooded area, very evocative of times past.
Very nice old castle of Rosa Bonheur in the past which is turned into a museum. Have many beautiful paintings, particularly, the animals paintings. Personally, I love animals and art so it’s very enjoyable to visit this museum. It is not so big but full of paintings of her. There is the salon de thé on the ground floor with the reasonable price and serves the delicious tea, hot cocoa, coffee and cakes. I love their hot cocoa, it’s delicious. You need to buy the tickets with the desired time before to come here, there are discounted prices for some special cases, can check out in their website. 20 people maximum for each visit with a guide. The guide is very nice and explained very well. For the salon de thé, there is no need to reserved but it is suggested to reserve before. But the museum is a bit far from Paris. If you have no car, you need to take the train and continue to walk about 15 mins.

Enjoy the photos. The interior you can see if you arrive when open. The view from down the hill was worth the visit.

Come here to learn about the facinating story of the first female to receive Légion d'honneur ! The tea salon is also lovely to have some high quality tea and delicious hot chocolate.
Very cute old mansion that belonged to 19th century painter of animal scenes. Her painting studio feels like a trip back in time. But...no /very few authentic works of the artist and a lot of cheap reproductions...so at 17 EUROS entrance it is pricey for what you get.
Some recent attractions border on the gimicky....such as visitors can block print animals on nice paper, and there are some cheap blow-ups of early photographs of her works.
Nice tea room and B&b but we did not stay.
The current owner acquired the site in 2017 and seems to be gradually upgrading.
Her student daughter Lou guided us and showed her passion for the subject making all the difference.
Ps on arrival total chaos due to a huge coachload of Dutch tourists arriving at the same time...so Lou saved the day by guiding us through the garden first...
